Spartak Fan Scores From the Spot, Inspires Alex?

Spartak Moskva has one of the best dead ball strikers in the league, one of the reasons why Alex is near-money from the spot. But nightmare beyond nightmare for the struggling Moskvites: Alex gets hurt.

Who would Valeri Karpin turn to in his time of need?

If this weekend’s match was any indication, Spartak could turn to the stands, where they seem to have depth in kick-takers.

Standing above his second-half kick, Spartak down 1-0, Alex paused long enough for an inspired supporter to rush the pitch and make sure his beloved Spartak evened the match.

Look at the skill with which the supporter beat Antonin Kinsky. It was a strike so powerful, Kinsky could not react. Brilliant.

That’s not the kind of composure you find in every player. Though the score (inexplicably!) did not count, Spartak can be assured that should their recent struggles continue, The People’s Team have numerous sources of talent at their disposal.

Whether he felt threatened or frightened, Alex converted his kick to tie the score. Unfortunately, Spartak would go on to lose to Saturn. Perhaps it is because they did not keep the pitch invader on?
